A super-light, easy-to-grip straight mute with a very nice sound, top response and very good intonation. The low weight (Tom Crown 200g vs. A-Mute 129g) relieves the left hand when playing with a mute. I really like the warm, soft, not too „bitchy“ sound across all octaves, the response (especially in the lower register) is terrific in contrast to other manufacturers, even the contra-B is fully in the centre. The intonation remains almost the same, it doesn't get noticeably higher. In addition, the special shape and surface make it easy to pick up when you need to move quickly. The icing on the cake is the personalisation, e.g. with names. I am absolutely convinced and have bought the whole set of A-Mute steamers.
